The Icelandic Sheep Breeders of North America (ISBONA) has devised a color coding system that may voluntarily be added to the animals name and flock number when registering with the Canadian Livestock Records Corp. Here is the system:
Base Color:

Black

=

B

Moorit (Brown)

=

M

Can't tell base color (i.e. White)

=

O
Pattern: White = 1
Grey = 2
Badgerface = 3
Mouflon = 4
Solid = 5
Grey Mouflon = 6 (a unique pattern from one pattern gene, as of year 2004 found only in Iceland)
Spotting: Spotted = S
Not spotted = - or nothing
Horning: Polled = P
Horned = H
